I have been studying carbon sequestration of various plants used on green roofs. I am currently working analyzing and writing up a study that dealt with comparisons of grey water versus tap water, various growing substrates and various plants. Also currently, I am conducting a project to determine how drainage height affects plant community structure.

My research on green roof ecology is mainly focused on implementing and testing ecological theory on the ever growing green roof phenomena. These unique enclosed habitats created in urban surroundings can serve to test community ecology in both floral and faunal levels.
I am interested in finding ecological theory that will enhance the diversity and stability of the green roof community. As well as enhancing the diversity and stability I wish to establish the advantages of these traits on a green roof.

My research focuses on the integration of photovoltaic panels and green roofs, and the effects on plant and insect diversity and panel efficiency.

More broadly, I am interested in the effects of microhabitat heterogeneity, such as that produced by solar panels, on biodiversity.
